RSVP/Philadelphia, based at the Klein JCC at 10100 Jamison Ave., will celebrate March For Meals Month with a month-long series of events and activities beginning on March 6. The salute is part of the annual campaign by the Meals On Wheels Association of America.

RSVP/Philadelphia will kick off its celebration with a Driver Appreciation Breakfast honoring 25 volunteer drivers in the Klein JCC’s Home Delivered Meals Program on March 6 at 8:30 a.m.

Then on March 16, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m., the public is invited to join the Hadassah at the Klein JCC to assist in cooking meals that will be readied for delivery to homebound seniors.

To locate a cooking group that is convenient, contact Sue Aistrop at 215–698–7300, Ext. 110 or saistrop@kleinjcc.org

The program continues with March For Meals Champions Week, March 16–20, when community partners, government representatives and local personalities will be invited to help deliver meals. The week also will be marked by a special cooking demonstration by an area chef on March 19 at noon. The public is invited.

In addition, the month will include a special Garden Fresh Cooking Group, which will harvest fresh ingredients in the JCC’s outdoor hoop house and immediately move to the Klein JCC’s kitchen to cook with the harvested items for the Home Delivered Meals Program. The garden harvest and cooking event will be held on Wednesday, March 25, beginning at 1:30 p.m.

Anyone interested in volunteering to cook, package or deliver meals for the Home Delivered Meals Program may contact RSVP/Philadelphia at 267–345–7787. ••
